You should note that there are many ways to do something in Photoshop and just because it's the way I do something isn't necessary the way you should.
First thing I had to do was download the WestHam logo from the site I gave you earlier. Open that up in Photoshop. Next I always take a copy of the original and paste it as a new image.
1) So in photoshop with the WH logo loaded, ctrl+A (select all), ctrl+c (copy), ctrl+n (new), ok the box, ctrl+v (paste). You'll end up with a new photoshop file with the pasted WH logo:
(Before the next step you should copy that layer just in case you mess up. Press ctrl+j to do that)
2) Select the Magic Wand (top red circle in next image) and selected the border of the WH logo. Then with a big paint brush painted the border Orange (the good thing about the magicwand is that once something is selected the paintbrush will only paint was is selected)
3) Using the magicwand I selected the purple background and the castle (keep the "shift" key pressed to select more than one thing). Make sure everything is selected (also did the bottom banner at the same time:
https://2img.net/h/i26.photobucket.com/albums/c144/Giania_73/pic3.jpg4) and I painted it black. Next I selected only the shield part and made a copy of that (ctrl+c, ctrl+v to paste a new layer of just the shield):
5) Wanted to create an interior border so clicked the new layer and using the magic wand (my friend ;o)) selected the black area of the shield. Then select, modify, contract and contracted it by 10 pixels. You can see the selected area has got smaller in the image:
6) Still on layer 2 and without clicking anything from the previous step I filled the contracted area. Edit > fill > colour and chose Orange when the dialog box came up. Then select > modify > contract and contracted by 5 pixels. This makes the selcted area even smaller. then edit > cut to leave an orange border.
https://2img.net/h/i26.photobucket.com/albums/c144/Giania_73/pic6.jpgI then merged the orange border layer with the Black shield layer below it. Do this by selecting one layer, then press and hold shift, then click the next layer. Then right click and "merge layers".
7) FC Melbourne wanted a Tiger so a quick image search on google I found what I thought was good enough. Save the image, then file > open and open the Tiger. I then selected all the white areas around the tiger using, yep the magicwand and shift key, then select > inverse which then just selects the Tiger:
ctrl+c to copy the selected Tiger. Then minimise that image and go back to the logo in progress. ctrl+v to paste the tiger which automatically gets pasted as a new layer.
https://2img.net/h/i26.photobucket.com/albums/c144/Giania_73/pic8.jpg9) Edit > free transform on the tiger layer and if you press and hold the shift key and get your cursor on the corner you can drag the size smaller. Keeping the shift key pressed keeps the size ratio the same.
10) Once it's the right size, position it where you want it and that's that. If it's too small just free transform it again and make it bigger.
11) Add text using the text command on the left hand side. Then select the create warped text icon at the top right.
12) When the dialog opens select Arc and mess around with the settings until the arched text fits where you want it to
go.
13) Go back to the layer palette and select the bottom layer. Click ctrl+j to duplicate this layer. Just click ok when the duplicate layer dialog comes up.
14) Next I modified the canvas size just to get a border (its better to do this if you are going to use emboss features and it'll then flow ok into the green of TM). Image > canvas size. Make sure relative is tick and typed in 20 pixels in height and width:
15) Selected the bottom layer and painted the background TM green with a huge brush:
16) I then resized it to fit TM. Image > image size (TM accepts 100 x 100 so have a look to see what is the largest..height or width and change that to 100...oh make sure contrain proportions is ticked in the image size dialog box)
It'll then resize in proportion:
Once it's resized you'll need to touch up the Green layer or the edges will have a white appearance to them and give you an unwanted border!
17) Select the "layer 2 copy" layer and click the wee "fx" under the layers palette, then on Bevel and Emboss:
18) I add a wee pillow emboss to the layer:
19) I then clicked on the shield only layer (remember the copy of the shield I made in step 4) and added a little "inner bevel" to that layer. Mess around with all the "fx" features and you may be surprised and some of the effects.
Then saved the psd and saved as .jpg with maximum quality and Bob's your auntie!!! ;o)
This would normal take about 5-10 minutes once you're comfortable with all the icons and commands.....enjoy! ;o)
